• Annual Notice - Gifted

The Highlands School District actively seeks to identify students who may qualify for gifted services under Pennsylvania’s 22 Pa Code Chapter 16. If you believe your child may need specially designed instruction beyond the standard academic curriculum outlined in Chapter 4 (Academic Standards and Assessment), you have the right to request a gifted evaluation in writing.

If a student is identified as both gifted and eligible for special education, the guidelines in IDEA and Chapter 14 will take priority in determining appropriate supports and services.

The district provides services tailored to meet the unique needs of gifted learners in accordance with state law. Gifted identification is based on multiple criteria, including superior intellectual ability or other evidence of gifted potential as outlined in Chapter 16. If your child is suspected of qualifying for gifted services, you will be informed of the evaluation and screening process.

To request a gifted screening or evaluation, please contact your child's building principal or school counselor.
