• Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Grant

The Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Grant provides funds to purchase drug and alcohol prevention screening and counseling services for HSD students. At this time all funds from the Grant are used to support the Drug and Alcohol Liaison Services at the High School and Middle School. HSD contracts with Family Services of Western Pennsylvania for services two days per week.

The SDFSC advisory committee meets a least twice a year to review the needs of HSD students and to make recommendations about services. The Committee is comprised of representatives from the schools, parents of students, students, local law enforcement officers, representative from local and federal government  programs (such as the Office of the Attorney General and  the FBI). In addition to advising on use of the grants funds, the committee provides a forum for discussion of  issues related to school and community safety. The committee welcomes new members.
