WPXI's Jennifer Tomazic, Community Members Read to HES Students to Celebrate Read Across America Week
03/06/2025
Highlands Elementary School welcomed WPXI news anchor Jennifer Tomazic and over 20 community guest readers to the school on Wednesday, March 5 to celebrate Read Across America Week. Students rotated between Tomazic's presentation in the auditorium and classroom visits with the community readers.
In addition to reading books to the students, and keeping in line with the district's Career & Workforce Readiness program, all of our special guests discussed what they do for their job/career and why reading is important in their profession. They also took time to answer student questions.
Special thanks to 2nd grade teacher Melissa McCurdy for coordinating this experience for our students, and to all who helped make the event a huge success!
