"Bite Into Books" Program Kicks Off for 2nd Graders
11/27/2024
The HES / Community Library program for second graders kicked off this November with Mrs. Pittman's class as the first to participate! Students enjoyed the story "Dragons Love Tacos" and had fun creating a dragon to retell the story. Students also sampled tortilla chips with HOT salsa! "Don't eat too much spicy salsa!"
About "Bite Into Books"...
Throughout the school year, Mrs. Susan Wilson, the youth services librarian at the Community Library of Allegheny Valley, visits each second grade class for a 45-minute lunch period. Students listen to a story while enjoying their lunch then create a hands-on craft and sample a snack related to the story. The goal is to create the love and enjoyment of books through a school-community connection in an engaging environment that fosters a lifelong love of reading!
