"Bite Into Books" Program Kicks Off for 2nd Graders

11/27/2024

The HES / Community Library program for second graders kicked off this November with Mrs. Pittman's class as the first to participate! Students enjoyed the story "Dragons Love Tacos" and had fun creating a dragon to retell the story. Students also sampled tortilla chips with HOT salsa! "Don't eat too much spicy salsa!" 🔥

About "Bite Into Books"...

Throughout the school year, Mrs. Susan Wilson, the youth services librarian at the Community Library of Allegheny Valley, visits each second grade class for a 45-minute lunch period. Students listen to a story while enjoying their lunch then create a hands-on craft and sample a snack related to the story. The goal is to create the love and enjoyment of books through a school-community connection in an engaging environment that fosters a lifelong love of reading! 📚📖
