by Laura Fleischer Proaño, HHS Spanish Teacher
As part of the annual International Education Week in November, seven multilingual Highlands students shared their countries and cultures with Spanish, German and World Cultures classes at the High School.
The students included AFS exchange students Albright Mbando from Cameroon and Essi Leppanen from Finland as well as Cameron Reigard, a 2024 Highlands graduate who studied in Spain with AFS this past summer and participated in the event from college via Zoom. This year’s event also welcomed Highlands multilingual students Monse Petz & Luisa Petz from Guatemala, Agastya Narang from India and Vo Xuan Hoang (Morgan) from Vietnam.
A special thanks to these remarkable students for fostering inclusivity, curiosity and global competence in our school community. Merci Albright. Kiitos Essi. Gracias Cameron, Monse y Luisa. Cám ơn Morgan.
International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education that celebrates global education and inspires students to explore the world, develop global competence and consider international opportunities.
