Highlands Elementary Students Participate in Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 6-12

10/10/2024

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 6-12, students at Highlands Elementary had the opportunity to see various components of fire trucks and ambulances, as well as ask questions about the vehicles, fire prevention and safety and related careers on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The event, coordinated by 2nd grade teacher Mr. William Celko & the school's PBIS Team, also featured an appreciation breakfast for the first responders that was prepared by the HES food service staff under director Ms. Stacey Waffensmith.

Mr. Celko was excited that he was able to expand this annual event to include more first responders from the Highlands community this year. A HUGE THANK YOU to the Tarentum Police and to the firefighters and paramedics from the following companies who took time out of their busy schedules to visit Highlands Elementary School!
