High School Students Conduct Developmental Activities with HECC Students

2024

This past spring, students in Mr. Romy Nitowski's Family and Consumer Science classes studied the importance of early childhood learning and development. They had the unique opportunity to apply their knowledge as "teachers" to the young Pre-K and Kindergarten students at Highlands Early Childhood Center, conducting activities that focused on social, emotional, physical, intellectual learning. All the students -- HECC and HS -- benefited from this experience; smiles were abundant!

This was the first year for the return of the Family and Consumer Science (FCS) course to Highlands High School and Middle School, and Mr. Nitowski split his time between the two schools. However, starting in the 2024-25 school year, the FCS course will be required for students, and both schools will have a dedicated FCS teacher.
