Middle School Students Have an "Eye" for Art

Highlands Middle School students in Ms. Regina Duckstein's Painting/Drawing 1 & 2 classes were inspired by artist and surrealist painter René Magritte to create their own version of The False Mirror, a famous 1928 Magritte oil painting that depicts a human eye framing a cloudy, blue sky. In the depiction of the eye in the painting, the clouds take the place normally occupied by the iris.

Ms. Duckstein held an art contest for the best student versions inspired by The False Mirror. Out of the 60 students who submitted their artwork, 18 were selected for a student and staff vote. Congratulations to the three winners - Marlee Landers, Camryn Tarr and Jayla Shelton
