Peyton Smalley Commits to Penn State Greater Allegheny for Softball, Academics

03/20/2024

CONGRATULATIONS to senior Peyton Smalley for her commitment to continue her academic and softball career at Penn State Greater Allegheny. The PSUGA softball team competes in the USCAA Division II of the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

The Highlands Athletic Department celebrated Peyton’s commitment on March 4 with her family, friends and coaches in attendance.

A 4-year Varsity Girls Softball starter, Peyton plays shortstop and outfield positions for the Rams. She is proud to be a part of the Rams Softball Team that made it to the WPIAL Championship and State playoffs during her freshman year. Peyton also plays travel softball for the Devil Dogs and was selected to play on the All-American Team during Nationals. “I played softball my whole life and wouldn’t be who I am without it,” said Peyton, who will also play in another National this summer.

After visiting the campus and meeting head softball coach Savanna Anastas, Peyton knew in her heart that Penn State GA was the right place for her to continue her education and athletic career.  "I felt an immediate connection with the coach and knew I wanted to play for her," said Peyton. She is leaning toward studying early education in college and aspires to be a teacher and softball coach herself.

Peyton's family includes parents, Scott & Heather Smalley, sister Jessie, brother Brendan, sister-in-law Kelsi and nephews Maverick and Beckham.

Congratulations, Peyton!
