Planetarium Highlighted at High School Science Night

03/11/2024

In February, the Highlands High School Science Department showcased activities for Highlands students and their families. Chemistry and Biology teachers facilitated labs, Mr. Walt Hanzlik demonstrated a physics lesson, and Mr. Matt Sespico opened the planetarium for three shows.

"For the first time in Highlands history, over 50 students and family members made their way through the planetarium in one evening," said Mr. Sespico. Sophomore Owen McIntire ran the show, however, as he navigated the night sky under the dome with great familiarity, just as he does many nights with his telescope at his house.

Science Night was a hit all around, and teachers hope to host another one in the not-so-distant future.

Special thanks to Kristen McIntire-Lewandowski for the photos!
