Jocelyn Bielak Signs Letter of Intent for Pitt-Greensburg

11/15/2023

CONGRATULATIONS to senior Jocelyn Bielak, who signed her Letter of Intent to continue her academic and basketball career at the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg. The UPG Bobcats compete in the NCAA Division III of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

The Highlands Athletic Department celebrated Jocelyn’s signing with her family and friends on Nov. 10.

As a 4-year starter for the Girls Varsity Basketball Team, Jocelyn was named to the VND All Section 1st Team her sophomore year and the VND All Section 2nd Team her junior year. Jocelyn also played AAU Basketball for 7 years and Girls Varsity Volleyball for 4 years (Captain – senior year). In addition, she was recently named the Berger & Green Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Jocelyn is thankful to UPG Coach Darien Lantz for asking her to be a part of the women’s basketball program. “I was looking at smaller schools where I could play basketball, and I wanted a good academic school too,” said Jocelyn. “Pitt-Greensburg lets me chase a Pitt degree while playing the sport I love.”

The daughter of Steve & Kate Bielak and sister to Trent (Pitt-Bradford baseball / chemistry), Troy (10th grade) and Chaz (7th grade), Jocelyn plans to major in biology with a focus on environmental studies. She also hopes to continue with Spanish language studies, study abroad, and possibly work as an environmental scientist.

Jocelyn is thankful to all her former coaches and to her family for believing in her. “Above all, I thank God for the ability to chase my dreams and achieve my goals,” she said.

Congratulations, Jocelyn!
