Let the Games Begin!
03/14/2023
High School students in Mike Santucci’s Evolution of Games class explored various types of board games, including dice games such as Yahtzee and territorial acquisition games such as Risk, during “game fest” to experience the benefits game playing has within society. These traditional hands-on board games have greatly influenced today’s professional game designers, who implement dynamics from many different types of games in their blockbuster hits.
Evolution of Games is a semester-long, elective course open to any High School student who is interested in board game design and creation through the use of technology. Throughout the course, students work individually or with a team to design and create their own original game using the Adobe Illustrator graphic design program to create the play area, laser engraver technology to create wooden parts and pieces and the 3D modeling software TinkerCAD to design and print 3D items.
