HHS Sophomore Earns Eagle Scout Rank
01/13/2023
Highlands sophomore Elliot Vunora earned Boy Scouting’s highest rank when he successfully completed the Eagle Scout Board of Review on Nov. 2, 2022. The son of Kristen Vunora, Elliot led a team of youth and adult volunteers in constructing a welcome area including benches and signage for the newly constructed Harrison Township Community Garden. Known now as the Birdville Friendship Garden, located at the Citizens Hose Fire-Rescue-EMS in Natrona Heights, it was built on the site of an old T-Ball field and will serve residents with vegetables, herbs and a tool-lending program. The sense of community and belonging in a facility like this is important, and Elliot’s benches, signs and dedicated social area will add to that.
Elliot has been involved in many school, music and sports activities throughout his life. Scouting is also an important component in his life. He credits his time and leadership opportunities in Scouting as a member of Troop 186 in the Japeechen District for his drive to achieve the goals he sets for himself. One of those goals is to become a music educator. There is little doubt that his life skills and his drive to live by the Scout Oath and Law will take him far in this endeavor.
