Smiles and pride filled the air as Veterans enjoyed a special breakfast sponsored by Highlands Elementary in honor of Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022.

All students in grades 1-4 had the opportunity to invite a Veteran (parent, grandparents, relative, neighbor, etc.) to the Veterans Breakfast, now in its second year. The event was organized by 3rd Grade teacher and US Coast Guard Veteran Mr. Mark Duncan and fellow 3rd Grade teachers Mrs. Patti Burris, Mrs. Beth Brancato, Mrs. Kim Chalmers, Mrs. Rachel Chester, Mrs. Mandy Grubbs and Mrs. Lauralee Milberger. 

Assisting at the event were HES Food Service Staff and director Stacey Waffensmith, Highlands K-4 PTO volunteers and the HES Custodial Staff. Highlands Elementary Staff also contributed funds for the breakfast through dress down day fundraisers. 

A sincere THANK YOU to all Veterans for your dedicated service to our country!
