5th Graders Use Teamwork to Build 3D Shapes

09/06/2022

On Sept. 2, Highlands Middle School 5th graders in Mr. Kevin Mason's and Mr. Scott Newell's math classes enjoyed a day of learning outside as they worked together in teams to create 3D shapes using ropes. The teachers played the role of skeptics, asking students to justify how they knew their shapes satisfied their defined characteristics. Every student in each group had to successfully build these complex shapes and provide a convincing argument. "This is one of our favorite team-building activities", said Mr. Mason.
