8th Graders Learn the Physics of Roller Coasters

It's that time of year for the 8th Grade Roller Coaster project! However, this year, the project looked very different from previous years. Instead of spending time on the creative aspect of a roller coaster theme and decoration, the students in Mrs. Wendy Hutchison's science classes used the project supplies to accomplish the basics on a foam board. This process afforded them more time to focus on the scientific principles of the roller coaster, which is to model Newton's laws of motion and the Law of Conservation of Energy. Students collected data, created sketches, and presented their projects to the class.
