HMS Pie A Teacher Charity Drive Benefits AVAC Food Bank
Highlands Middle School hosted a "Pie A Teacher" Charity Drive in December to benefit the AVAC Food Bank and to encourage students to exhibit RAMS behavior and volunteer at school.
In addition to donating non-perishable items, students also donated their time to earn tickets for a chance to pie a teacher. Some of the things the students volunteered for included decorating classroom doors for the decorating contest, helping teachers decorate their rooms, cleaning classrooms, helpful tasks for teachers, and extraordinary RAMS behavior. At the end of the drive, over 700 items were collected for the food bank!
At the request of the Middle School's PTO, teachers Mrs. Christine Wagner and Mrs. Kaitlyn Selfridge coordinated the event in collaboration with the school's PBIS Team. Nearly 20 teachers and staff participated in the pie-ing, including Principal Dr. Price, Assistant Principal Mr. Toole, Dean of Students Mr. Sakolsky, Ms. DeMaria, Mrs. Kosior, Mrs. Billingsley, Mr. Zendarski, Mr. DeJidas, Mrs. Sue, Mrs. Koprivnikar, Mrs. Zolinas, Ms. Stobert, Mr. Schmitt, Mr. Bolla, Mrs. Beam, Officer Roman, Mrs. Selfridge and Mrs. Wagner.
Thank you to all who made this Charity Drive a huge success! Thank you to Mrs. Cale for the photos!
