Highlands Returns to In-Person Learning - Jan. 19
A Message from the Superintendent
I first want to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year. I am hopeful that this year will be a better experience for all of us than last year.
I am pleased to announce that all students Pre-K through 12th grade, except those who chose the HVA full remote program, will return to the Hybrid model beginning Tuesday, January 19. Group A students will attend in-person learning on Mondays and Tuesdays, with remote learning days Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Group B students will attend in-person learning on Wednesdays and Thursdays with remote learning days Fridays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Group A in-person learning begins Tuesday, January 19 and Group B in-person learning begins Wednesday, January 20.
Those students transitioning to the HVA full remote program will begin on Tuesday, January 19 and will receive communication directly from the HVA teacher.
Bus letters will go out today in anticipation of the return of Hybrid learners on Tuesday. All students who live at a bus-eligible address will receive a bus letter regardless of what instructional model they are in. If your child does not need transportation, please disregard the letter.
I know this time continues to be a challenge for our families, students and staff. It is our desire to return our students to more in-person learning while maintaining the health and safety of everyone. We will continue to monitor the COVID pandemic and make changes to our instructional models as the data changes. On behalf of the Highlands School District, I thank you for your continued partnership as we transition into the second semester.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Monique Mawhinney, Superintendent
