During the school closure, Highlands Elementary School 2nd grade teachers Ms. Melissa McCurdy and Mrs. Jody Shumaker found a way to let their students know how proud they were of them during the challenging time of learning from home and being away from their school family.
The teachers rotated the placement of "SO PROUD" signs in their students' yards and delivered goodie bags to all of them. In a note to students, Ms. McCurdy wrote, "One thing has not changed is how proud I am of you and how much I love you! This bag is a small token of my appreciation for all of your hard work and perseverance you have showed over the last several weeks!"
The students were asked to share a photo of themselves with the sign and to remember that they will always be Ms. McCurdy's and Mrs. Shumaker's students as time goes by!
