HHS Teacher Nominated for Online Educator Award
Highlands High School LS Environmental Science teacher Mrs. Jennifer Galcik was anonymously nominated by one of her students for the Brainly Online Educator of the Year Award. Brainly launched the award program to recognize and honor educators who have enacted inclusive solutions for students to finish out the school year at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The scholarship is in partnership with DonorsChoose, Codecademy, and ClassTag.
As one of 400 educators nationwide, Mrs. Galcik was honored and blessed to receive the nomination. “Even though I was the focus, they [the students] do not know that they truly are the focus and reason! We have the greatest students at HHS and they are growing, maturing, and becoming wonderful young adults full of passion and kindness,” she said.
Students nominated a teacher by writing a four to five sentence response to the question: “How has an educator been exceptional in your transition to remote learning?”
“I truly was touched and surprised by this student’s nomination, especially during this time,” said Mrs. Galcik.
