In January, Mrs. Kate Rizzo’s 8th grade Academic English class participated in a debate and hosted guest speaker Mr. Charles "Chip" Bell to moderate the debate. The students previously learned about argumentative writing to prepare for the classroom debate.

A Tarentum High School alumni, Mr. Bell is a trial attorney and an author from New Kensington. After demonstrating the stages of a debate, the students had a valuable question and answer session with Mr. Bell.
