Annual Holiday 365 Toy Collection Kicks Off At Homecoming Game
"Joining communities with holiday cheer, 365 days a year!" That is the goal of Highlands High School 2019 graduate and Allegheny College freshman Marissa Callender’s annual donation drive collection, “Holiday 365”.
For the third consecutive year, Marissa is organizing the “Holiday 365” Toy Collection to benefit Highlands community children in need this holiday season. “Christmas is a joyous time where giving is known as the best kind of receiving. In many areas, as well as the one we live in, not everyone is fortunate enough to experience this,” said Marissa, who chose the Homecoming football game as the first venue to collect items for this endeavor.
On Friday, October 11, every adult and student who donates a new toy or new clothing item at the gate will receive FREE general admission to the Homecoming football game (one ticket per item donated). The game is at 7:00pm at Golden Rams Stadium. (See below for a list of toy and clothing ideas.)
Parents may also bring donations on Parent/Teacher Conference Day, November 11. A collection box will be in the High School office until December 17.
Last year, Marissa collected and wrapped over 400 holiday gifts for children in the Highlands community! Questions about “Holiday 365” may be directed to Marissa at callendermarissa01@gmail.com.
