HHS Students Volunteer to Help Local Friendship Garden
A small - but mighty - group of Highlands High School students, including National Honor Society members, an AFS student and science teacher Mr. Michael Toole, volunteered their time on Saturday, Sept. 7 to do some necessary work in Tarentum's Greg Blythe Friendship Garden. They picked beans, tomatoes and potatoes; weeded and cleared out raised beds; built two new raised beds; and planted spinach, beets, lettuce and radishes for the fall. Rev. Phil Beck of First United Presbyterian Church, who is an instrumental caretaker of the garden, said that the group's help was a "life saver" and greatly appreciated!
Special thanks to Rev. Beck for the photos and information!
