Highlands Recognizes Top Academic Achievers

 

Highlands School District recognized 282 top achievers in grades 5-12 at two separate annual Academic Honors Celebrations, on May 14 for grades 5 through 8 and on May 21 for grades 9 through 12.

 

The celebrations honored students in grades 6-12 who have earned a 96% or higher, are one of the top 10 in their grade level, or are an Outstanding Career Technology Education Student. Grade 5 students had to earn a 95% or higher to receive an award.

 

The Middle School program featured entertainment by the Middle School Chorus and an Academic Address delivered by Harrison Township Police Sgt. Justin Bouch. Following the HHS Honors Choir performance at the High School program was featured speaker Officer Jeffrey Sheldon, Highlands Police & Head of Security. 

 

The Presentation of Awards were given by MS principal Dr. Kimberly Price and assistant principal Ms. Deborah Beucker, HS principals Mr. Charlie Mort and Mr. Shawn Bennis, and Highlands School District Superintendent Dr. Monique Mawhinney, who also congratulated and commended the students in her closing remarks.
