Highlands Invited to Perform at Grove City College Concert on Mar. 15

Highlands Concert Band

After a successful and strong showing by the Highlands Varsity Marching Band at the Grove City College Homecoming Parade this past fall, the college music department has invited the Highlands High School Concert Band to perform at their concert on Friday, March 15

Newly appointed Grove City College Director of Bands, Professor Andrew Erb, extended this invitation in an effort to feature the students of alumni directors in the area. Highlands band director Mr. Matthew Beresik is a Grove City alum, and Highlands was the college's first choice.

"While it is rare for our ensembles to perform so early in the spring, we are excited for this opportunity and look forward to representing our Fine Arts Department and the Highlands School District," said Beresik. Highlands' portion of the concert will include selections from their spring program, entitled Danza Sinphonica - featuring a variety of dance music scored for wind band. The concert will open with Highlands, followed by performances from Grove City's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.

The event is free and open to the public.  It will also be live-streamed on the college's website https://livestream.com/accounts/13431056/events/7321826. The concert begins at 7:30pm.

For those interested in attending the concert, it will be held in the Pew Fine Arts Center / Ketler Auditorium, Maple St, Grove City, PA 16127. A reception for all the performers and audience will be held immediately after the concert.

Beresik recognizes that this is a special honor for the Highlands concert band, and appreciates the opportunity to attend. "Our thanks goes out to the Highlands Administration and School Board for their continued support of the Fine Arts at Highlands", said Beresik.
