Opening a Fast Food Restaurant
4th Grade - Throughout this session, Mrs. Tara Calabrese and Mrs. Vickie Nania will challenge students to design and build a restaurant - a donut shop! Students will gain critical thinking and life skills in order to help them be successful in the real world. They will also relate and use grade level Reading/ELA and Math Skills in real-world learning experiences, including calculating profits and taking orders. They will be responsible for staffing the restaurant and doing payroll. At the conclusion of camp, students will present their donut shop to peers, and tudents and staff will vote on the most creative restaurant. Students will be given a notebook/journal to log/track daily takeaways and/or what they learned about opening a donut shop. Students will also engage in whole-group class discussions about their businesses and how their planning is going.
