UPDATE #12 - April 10, 2020
Schools Closed for Remainder of 2019-20 School Year
Dear Highlands Families,
I hope this message finds you all staying healthy and safe. I also hope you all are taking time to relax and reflect during this break, as we continue to navigate through this challenging time. As most of you are aware, yesterday Governor Wolf announced that all schools are officially closed for the remainder of the school year. Please know that the District's Continuity of Education Plan will remain in effect, and your children should continue to complete the work as assigned by their teachers. I hope the transition to online learning or completion of work at home is becoming somewhat easier for the students. Parents, the district is aware of the added strain this situation has on you, and we are here to support you in any way we can.
To our Seniors and parents of Seniors, we hear your concerns regarding the uncertainty of a graduation ceremony and are working to develop alternative plans if the Stay at Home Order and Social Distancing Order are not lifted by June 4. We know the significance of this event for our Seniors, who are so deserving of this recognition, and will do whatever we can to give you the acknowledgment you've earned and deserve.
For those of you who recognize the holiday, I wish you all a Blessed Easter, and for those who do not, I wish you a Blessed Spring Break. Continue to stay strong and healthy.
Enjoy your day,
Dr. Mawhinney, Superintendent
