• UPDATE #5 - MARCH 16, 2020

    Highlands Parents:

You either have received or will be receiving a letter in the mail from Dr. Mawhinney that was sent prior to Governor Wolf's mandatory closure of school. Please complete the survey via online or hard copy, so that the district can continue to prepare for student instruction in the case the school closure is extended beyond the 10 days.

Highlands Middle School, Highlands Elementary School and Highlands Early Childhood Center will be open for parents to pick up student work during the school closure period on Thursday, March 19, 2020 during the hours of 9:00 am-11:00 am and then again from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. Highlands High School students may access school work online. Please note, completion of this work is optional for students in order to provide them with some instructional activities to work on while at home. We will also post some online resources for your children to access during the school closure. Again, this is an opportunity to have your children stay academically active during this time.

Other than the time mentioned to pick up student work, all buildings will be closed to the public during the mandated school closure timeframe. During this time, the buildings will be going through a deep cleaning process. Also, our employee hours will be limited in order to avoid the spread of the virus.

Starting Wednesday, March 18, the district will provide grab and go lunches to students. There will be three locations available for pick up between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm: High School entrance door #23 nearest the student parking lot; the Elementary School entrance door #22 nearest the cafeteria, and The Hayden Center at Sheldon Park.

Thank you all for your patience and cooperation during this difficult time. Stay healthy and safe.
