• UPDATE - MARCH 13, 2020

    Highlands School District is continuing to monitor the latest updates regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) from the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and World Health Organization (WHO).  

    Under Governor Wolf’s recommendation, for the safety of our students, staff, and community, and out of an abundance of caution, the following guidelines will be implemented beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, through April 13, 2020, or until the current situation improves and is re-evaluated:


    • All school field trips and travel for students and staff, including community-based, will be canceled.


    • External organizations will not be permitted to use Highlands facilities, fields, and grounds. All previously approved and scheduled events within this time frame are canceled. The District is contacting organizations, which will be responsible for notifying their own stakeholders.


    • To limit potential risks, upcoming Highlands-sponsored events will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The District is working with the organizers of the various groups and events to determine logistics. Plans to reschedule events will be shared through a future communication.


    • Extra-curricular activities and rehearsals and athletic practices and games will continue.


    At this time, all Highlands schools will continue to operate on regular schedules. More information will be released as this rapidly changing matter continues to develop. The District will continue to monitor the situation daily and provide information as it is available. Please continue to check the district website frequently for updates.
