Message to Parents Regarding Remote Learning

HMS Parents,

Beginning Wednesday, April 1, Highlands Middle School students will receive online instruction (unless they reported not having access to technology). Students must sign in daily to Google Classroom and participate in lessons and activities provided by their teachers. Students in fifth and sixth grade will learn through the Google Classroom Suite. Students in seventh and eighth grade will use Google Classroom and Edgenuity to participate in their learning. One interesting fact: students can access Google Classroom through their Xbox or PS4 gaming system if they do not have a laptop! We are looking forward to seeing you all virtually next week!

Students who reported not having access to technology in the Highlands Technology Survey will receive a packet of hard copy material on Friday, April 3. The district is finalizing plans for delivery of these materials. Students will be responsible for completing the work in this packet for the next few weeks of school closure. The packet will give students enough material to continue learning until May 8, though we hope to resume brick and mortar instruction on April 14, which is the current plan.

Teachers will hold office hours for students to email and send questions directly to teachers. These hours will be posted on the district website.

Thank you so much for your communication and flexibility during this challenging time. We miss you all so much and are looking forward to engaging in learning even virtually next week.

Stay strong, and stay safe!
Dr. Price
