Included in the Middle School's 7th grade science curriculum is a unit on ecosystems and food chains.
Students in Mrs. Natalie Cale's classes identified the niches of organisms from various ecosystems based on their diet. They used that information to create a model of the path of energy flow through the ecosystem and explained how and why energy decreases along its pathway.
Students in Mr. Chris Resek's classes also took an interactive approach, but through a memorable demonstration. Students themselves became the source of the energy (sun) and the organisms, passing the "energy units" up the food chain.
