High School Students Celebrate Kindness
October 2023
In an effort to focus on kindness toward others, students at Highlands High School were invited to write kind and positive words to post on the Kindness Matters display near the cafeteria. Included in the array of positive words were posts such as, "progress over perfection", "have an amazing day", "you are perfect as you are" and "you got this"!
Highlands HS counselors partnered with the University of Pittsburgh School of Education's MAPS (Maximizing All Potentials) Program to coordinate this initiative. MAPS also provided inspirational stickers and bracelets for the students to take with them. The MAPS Program is dedicated to the prevention of drug and alcohol problems among youth, the promotion of adolescent mental health and the development of capable young people.
