Welcome, Dr. LaMantia!
Dr. Nicholas LaMantia joins the Highlands family after one year as an assistant high school principal at Commonwealth Charter Academy and 11+ years in the classroom as a regular education teacher, special education teacher, and gifted coordinator. A majority of Dr. LaMantia's career was spent in the Armstrong School District at West Shamokin Jr./Sr. High.
Dr. LaMantia earned a BA in Media and Professional Communications and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Special Education degree from Slippery Rock University, and principal certification and doctorate in educational leadership from Point Park University. He has also served as a dissertation committee member at Point Park and wrote for Point Park’s education blog.
As Highlands High School’s Assistant Principal, Dr. LaMantia will oversee the 9th and 10th grades as well as the School Wide Positive Behavior Support Team at the High School. “I look forward to joining Dr. Burns in helping to lead the next group of students through challenges and triumphs as they pursue their future here at Highlands High School and beyond,” said Dr. LaMantia.
A resident of the Norwin School District, his family includes wife Torrie, two sons, and two Golden Retrievers, Edgar Allan Pup and Virginia Woof. Passions include training his two dogs with his sons, painting murals and watching ice hockey.
