HHS Junior Honored for Reading 200 Books
On Friday, April 26, Highlands High School junior Lucas Witt was honored for checking out and reading his 200th book from the Highlands High School Library during this school year, well surpassing last year’s total of 158 books (which is also amazing)!
Highlands High School Library Media Specialist Dr. Sandra Reidmiller and a group of students showered Lucas with 200 pieces of confetti, presented him with a banner that displayed 200 stars and proclaimed him the “Star Reader of the Year”, and served candies in 200-piece batches. Lucas was also awarded a plaque from HHS Principal Mr. Charlie Mort for his accomplishment. The plaque was made by Mr. Matthew Stiff in the school’s wood shop.
Dr. Reidmiller said she continually looks for new books for Lucas in an effort to keep up with his passion for reading. “I would bet there isn't a student in any other district around here with such an accomplishment,” said Reidmiller. “Who says libraries are obsolete?”
Lucas is the son of Gene & Peggy Witt of Natrona Heights.
