Students in Miss Melissa McCurdy’s 2nd grade class at Highlands Elementary School are making new friends with fellow second graders about 12 miles away! The students are Pen Pals with Mr. John Nowikowski’s 2nd grade class at Kiski Area North Primary School this year, getting to know each other through letter writing and sharing photos. The students will also engage online via Zoom, with the ultimate goal of meeting each other in person at the end of the year. Miss McCurdy also has a special connection to one of the students in the Kiski class – her niece, Peyton! Shown are the pictures that the two classes shared with each other during Halloween.
