Welcome! My name is Kelly Garner-Hirtz, though I have the students just call me Mrs. Garner.
Educational and Professional Background:
I received my BSEd, majoring in Special Education, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2004. In 2009, I received my Masters degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Penn State University. Before beginning in the Highlands School District, I worked for Pressley Ridge Day School as a special education teacher and mental health specialist. I began working for Highlands School District as a learning support teacher at Grandview Elementary in 2007 and spent four school years working with 2nd and 3rd grade students. In 2011, I became the teacher of the primary level Therapeutic Support Classroom opened at Fairmount Primary Center. In 2018, I moved to the Middle School as a 6th grade Learning Support teacher and will this year be working with students in both 5th and 6th grade in Mathematics.
Even with all the recent changes, I'm looking forward to a great year! Please don't hesitate to call or email with any questions or concerns.
