    Additional Preschool Programs
     
    Sheldon Park Head Start
    A separate preschool program is the Sheldon Park Head Start, a Pre-K program closely aligned with our Highlands program.  The Sheldon Park Head Start has 20 students who also receive the same services as the Highlands Pre-K children.  
     
    Head Start
    Head Start is a free extended-day preschool program offered through the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, with lunchtime and activities incorporated into learning. The Highlands School District partners with Head Start to share resources, ideas and connect the district students at an earlier age.
     
    The teachers and staff from the Head Start programs meet regularly with the staff of the Highlands Pre-K Program so that all early childhood programs can share the same philosophy, planning, and resources.
