Message to Parents About Remote Learning
HECC Parents:
Beginning Wednesday, April 1, Highlands Early Childhood students will receive online instruction (unless the family has reported not having access to technology). Students in kindergarten must sign in daily with Google Classroom to confirm attendance. Using Google Classroom, kindergarten students will participate in lessons and activities that have been carefully planned by their teachers. Information outlining access to Google Classroom will be shared with families soon. Students in Pre-K will receive links to learning through email from the teachers. Families of Pre-K students will respond to the teacher's email on a daily basis to confirm attendance. Pre-K students will also be receiving additional resources. It is very important to confirm your student's attendance every day.
Please note that students can access Google Classroom through their Xbox or PS4 gaming system if they do not have a laptop! We are looking forward to seeing you all virtually next week!
Families who reported not having access to technology in the Highlands Technology Survey will receive learning resources for their students by Friday, April 3. The district is finalizing plans for delivery of these materials. Students will be responsible for completing the work as outlined in the learning plans provided by their teachers for the next few weeks of school closure. These learning resources will support learning through May 8th, though we hope to resume instruction at our school on April 14, which is the current plan.
Teachers will hold office hours for families to email and send questions directly to teachers. Click here for the list of office hours.
Thank you so much for your communication and flexibility during this challenging time. We miss the children very much and are looking forward to engaging in learning next week.
Stay strong, and stay safe!
Ms. Perlik, Principal
Highlands Early Childhood Center
