Grandview Raises $5000+ for Heart Assocation!
Congratulations to Grandview students for raising an amazing $5,067 for January's Jump Rope for Heart (JRFH) campaign -- a significant "jump" in donations from the 2005-06 total of $1400 and the 2006-07 total of $3,365!
"The students here at Grandview did an excellent job," said Melissa Billingsley, Grandview phys ed teacher and co-coordinator of JRFH with phys ed teacher William Heasley. The JRFH event was held during the students' regular physical education class schedule and included seven different jumping stations with music to make it fun and exciting.
JRFH promotes community service by raising funds to support lifesaving heart and stroke research and educational programs while teaching students about physical fitness. The students will receive thank you gifts from the American Heart Association for their participation and fundraising efforts. In addition, Grandview earned a $300 gift certificate to US Games for new physical education equipment.
