School Immunization Requirements Deadline Extended to October 27
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, many children in Pennsylvania have not obtained vaccinations on the appropriate schedule and may not have had the immunizations required to enter and attend school in the fall of 2020.
To enable children to enter and attend school without the required immunizations, the Pennsylvania Department of Health temporarily suspended the regulations for a two-month period after the beginning of the school year. This extended the deadline for immunization requirements for Highlands students to OCTOBER 27, 2020.
The Department continues to stress the importance of immunizations. Childhood immunizations are essential to individual and population health. Immunizations protect children against the potentially devastating effects of vaccine-preventable diseases. The specified regulations are being suspended temporarily only in response to the impact of the COVID-19 disaster emergency on the availability of immunizations.
