Staff Spotlight: Welcome, Officer Craig Harnish!
At its November 2021 meeting, the Highlands School Board approved the hiring of Police Officer Craig Harnish for the Highlands School Police Department. Harnish replaces Police Officer Jeff Sheldon, who resigned in September.
Officer Harnish’s primary responsibilities with the district are to supervise security and safety measures and maintain a safe and secure environment for all Highlands students and staff.
A graduate of Kiski Area High School, United States Air Force Academy and Indiana University Municipal Police Academy, Officer Harnish is a veteran police officer with over 30 years of experience in law enforcement. Throughout his career, he has served the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, Cheswick Borough, City of New Kensington, Washington Township, Gateway School District, and most recently, Plum Borough School District.
Officer Harnish is a certified A.L.I.C.E. instructor and has advanced certification as a School Resource Officer. He is trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention as well as threat assessment and diversity.
