Attention: 1976, 1998 & 2008 Undefeated Rams Varsity Football Teams!
Highlands School District plans to recognize the members of the 1998 & 2008 undefeated conference Highlands Golden Rams football teams as this season marks their 20-year and 10-year anniversaries, respectively. In addition, the 1976 football team will be recognized as the FIRST team in Highlands' history to go undefeated.
The 1976, 1998 and 2008 football team members will be honored prior to the start of the 7:00pm Homecoming football game on Friday, October 5 at Golden Rams Stadium.
Players should wear their team shirts or jackets (if possible) and meet at the Community Center at 6:15pm. In order for the athletic department to plan accordingly, please contact Mike Choma at 724-472-2180 or mchoma53@yahoo.com to confirm attendance.
About the Teams...
The 1998 Highlands Golden Rams Football Team, led by head coach Tim Karrs, finished with an undefeated season and made it to the second round of the WPIAL playoffs, which was the most any Highlands team had accomplished in 30 years. The Varsity team had six players named Northern Athletic Football Conference All-Stars: Jarrod Sleppy, Adam Lattus, Josh Petit, Jerimiah Silliman, Chad Ryan and Mark Corbett.
The 2008 Highlands Golden Rams Football Team, led by head coach Sam Albert, became the third team in school history to go undefeated in the regular season. The Rams made it to the semi-finals in the AAA WPIAL playoff game, but suffered a loss against Blackhawk. The team captains were Brendan Lucchino, Jeff Sinclair, Billy Devlin, Clayton Hamm and Nate Hargraves.
The 1976 Highlands Golden Rams Football Team, led by head coach Fran Rogel, became the FIRST team in the school's 50-year history to go undefeated in the regular season and won the West Penn Conference Championship. The Rams lost to Plum in the WPIAL Playoffs. Individually, K. Bowman, D. Jendrzejewski, K. Johnson, F. Kudlac, R. Samuels and C. Sypula were all named to the 1st Team All West Penn Conference.
