Highlands Senior Selected for All-State Wind Ensemble
Congratulations to Highlands High School senior musician Corey Beck, who was selected for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Wind Ensemble.
Corey will participate in three days of PMEA All-State band rehearsals, concerts and music on April 18-21 in Lancaster, PA. The Wind Ensemble will perform on Saturday, April 21 at 10:30am at J.P. McCaskey High School Auditorium. **UPDATE** It was announced 4/19 that Corey was selected as 2nd Chair for All-States! Way to go, Corey!
Prior to the state selection, Corey auditioned at PMEA District 1 East Band and placed 1st chair in percussion to move onto PMEA Region 1 Band. He received ranking of 2nd chair there to advance to PMEA All-States where he was selected to play in the Wind Ensemble.
A son of Phil & Christa Beck of Natrona Heights, Corey also plays percussion in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. On Monday, April 23, he will perform in a side-by-side concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, where the two groups will perform onstage together at Heinz Hall. The concert is free to attend.
