HHS Students Recognized as Trib Outstanding Young Citizens
Congratulations to junior Marissa Callender and senior Renee Cebula for receiving the Trib Total Media Outstanding Young Citizen Award! They were among 15 Highlands High School students nominated for the award, and among 533 nominees representing 97 schools across the Pittsburgh region.
From the nominees, the Trib selects 100 students to receive the Outstanding Young Citizen Award, which recognizes student academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community service. Those students will be honored at a banquet on Wednesday, April 18. In addition, 10 students will be selected to receive the Outstanding Young Citizen gold medal and two students will be presented with $5,000 scholarships in recognition of their commitment to volunteerism and community service.
In addition to Marissa and Renee, the Highlands students nominated were Jennifer Gustafson, Stephanie Hughes, Brian Huston, Quinten Jones, Athena Kazmierczyk, Kyle Kubicko, Lukas Lamer, Kira Lester, Grace Love, Nathan Love, Cole Masarik, Emilie Moore and Justin Moser.
