Happy February! I hope everyone is staying safe and warm. I am not a fan of cold or winter and days like we have been having makes me wish I didn't have to leave the house. I wish I could cozy up with a good book, a cup of tea and read. That led me to this post...
I know every parent wants to do everything and anything to help they child be successful. Reading to your child could be the single most important thing parents can do for children's success. A simple GOOGLE search will result in over 477 million articles about the importance and benefits of reading to your child. When they are young, they will enjoy their reading time with you, as they get older, let them "read" to you by looking at pictures and telling you the story, and as they get older yet, take turns reading pages.
I think this visual I got from a GOOGLE search explains it the best.
While test scores are not the end all, be all, I think it is safe to say we all want children to grow to be better readers, better writers and better communicators.
