Students Join the Beat During Cultural Performance

In March, 6th grade students at Highlands Middle School and students at Highlands Elementary enjoyed and engaged in a performance by the Pittsburgh Xiaobo Waist Drum Dance Group. Students learned about the origins of waist drumming in ancient Chinese culture and the group's performances at cultural and community events throughout the Pittsburgh area. The group, which includes both Chinese and American members, performed waist drum and streamer dances for the students and even invited them to join in their songs!

Our guests were impressed by our students' behavior and enthusiasm during the performance. Thank you, students, for showing your RAMS pride! Special thanks to the Alle-Kiski Arts Consortium for sponsoring this event and to the district for continuing to support our membership in the organization.
