The HHS Variations Show Choir truly shined like the "golden stars" they are, inspiring future performers with their energy, passion, and heart.
To kick off the month of October, 28 high school students took on the roles of mentors for 58 enthusiastic elementary and middle school students from across the district. Together, they explored vocals and choreography to a lively and animated choral medley of Disney’s "The Nightmare Before Christmas". The purpose of this workshop went far beyond just learning music; it was about sparking a love for the performing arts, encouraging students to express their true selves, and leaving them with an unforgettable, positive experience that could inspire them to join the high school music department someday.
As their director, the most rewarding part of the night was watching my high school students become teachers, leaders, and role models. This “pay it forward” spirit is at the heart of what we do, blending artistry with real-world skills in teaching, leadership, and creativity.
A heartfelt thank you to our Variations Show Choir Mentors, Variations Booster Board of parents – Elizabeth Terrill (President); Lindsay Mialki & Erin DonGilli (Vice Presidents); Shannon Valenti-Baker (Treasurer); Kenneth Baker (Fundraising); Jennifer Fox (Secretary); and Ms. Christine Wagner for their unwavering support in helping me make this phenomenal night possible for our students. Our district is truly blessed to have such dedicated and passionate advocates for the arts!

Parents of 4th through 8th graders: We invite you to continue this inspiring journey by joining us for a special Parent Meeting for the “Silver Stars” Musical Theater Camp via Zoom on Monday, November 10 at 6:00pm. Full details will be shared on the district website after Halloween. This exciting camp will run from November 13-21, ending with a mini-performance on Friday, November 21. Students will be introduced to the essentials of what’s considered the “triple threat” in the performing arts — Acting, Singing, and Dancing.
We cannot wait to build on the joy and excitement sparked tonight and to see our younger stars shine even brighter on stage in the weeks ahead!
