Students at Highlands Elementary had the opportunity to explore the world of fire trucks and ambulances during National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5-11. They interacted with local heroes, asking questions about these essential vehicles while learning more about fire prevention, safety and exciting career paths in this field.

This wonderful event was organized by 2nd-grade teacher Mr. William Celko, in collaboration with the school's PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), Career & Workforce, and Threat Assessment teams. The food service staff at HES, led by director Ms. Stacey Waffensmith, prepared a special appreciation breakfast for our brave first responders.

A big shout-out and heartfelt thank you to our local police, as well as the incredible firefighters and paramedics, who took time out of their busy schedules to inspire our students at Highlands Elementary School. Your dedication truly makes a difference!
