✂️ THANK YOU, WILLY T! 💈

A HUGE thank you to William Tavarez of Willy T’s Cuts for inspiring our teens during Mr. Zeiler’s Freshman Seminar Workforce Wednesday on Sept. 30!

Six students had the incredible opportunity to personally receive a haircut during the school day while learning firsthand about the barbering profession! Willy shared his journey, including the training, education, technical skills, soft skills, and business knowledge needed to become a successful barber and entrepreneur.

Willy received his barbering education at Empire in Monroeville and also spoke with our students about the incredible opportunities available to high school students through Forbes Road Career & Technology Center. His message was simple: take advantage of educational opportunities NOW!

Willy emphasized communication and problem-solving as two major soft skills. Every client is different, and every head of hair is different. Even when two people ask for the same hairstyle, a barber must communicate, adapt, and problem-solve to create the right result for each individual.

Willy also shared that he has grown his business to 14 employees across two locations, Tarentum and Freeport, and currently cuts about 100 clients each week.

What stood out most was Willy’s connection with our students. It was obvious that he understands our teens and genuinely cares about his community. His story is a great example of what can happen when you stay focused, work hard, build your skills, and take your education seriously.

We hope this Workforce Wednesday inspired the next generation of barbers, entrepreneurs, small-business owners, and maybe even future professionals who will help keep the barbering tradition growing right here in Tarentum and Freeport!

Thank you, Willy T, for dedicating your time and talent to our students! You are a true hometown hero!
