40 Years on Stage: Highlands Unveils FROZEN for 2027 Production

We are thrilled to officially unveil our 2027 Highlands High School Musical Production — FROZEN The Broadway Musical! This high-energy, empowering Broadway hit will take the stage on March 19, 20 & 21, 2027, marking the 40th consecutive musical production in Highlands High School history!

This year’s show selection was no ordinary process — it was the culmination of a Project-Based Learning Assignment designed for students in our Honors Choir and Broadway & Beyond classes. Before summer break, students worked in teams to research, present, and defend their chosen musical, making a compelling case for why their selected show deserved to be the next HHS production.

Students developed in-depth presentations—12 slides each—covering everything from historical context to casting logistics, musical themes, and staging. Their creativity, research, and passion paid off, leading us to this year’s dazzling choice.

So get ready, because "some people are worth melting for!" We are "ready to let it go" and create a magical production that will leave audiences smiling. We are absolutely confident that Disney's Frozen will deliver an unforgettable experience for our school and community. Let's celebrate four decades of theatrical excellence together!

Disney’s FROZEN the Broadway Musical is rated PG through MTISHOWS.  Below is a website description of the musical from www.mtishows.com:

For the first time in forever, experience the musical phenomenon that has taken the world by storm! Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, Disney’s Frozen includes all the film’s beloved songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with new music written exclusively for the stage.

In the beautiful mountainous kingdom of Arendelle, Princesses Anna and Elsa grow up sheltered inside their castle, isolated from the world and increasingly distant from each other. When Elsa is crowned queen, the magical powers she’s desperately tried to conceal from her sister take control, and she flees into the mountains. As a ferocious winter descends on Arendelle, Anna sets off on an epic journey to find Elsa and bring her home – with the help of hardworking ice harvester Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and a happy-go-lucky snowman named Olaf.

Full of magic, humor, and a stunning musical score, Frozen is a powerful tale of sisterhood, acceptance, and finding the real meaning of true love.
